Saad Al-Barrak is a Kuwaiti businessman, entrepreneur, and investor. Al Barrak is best known for his role as CEO of Zain Group. He turned Zain from a local telecom company with 500,000 users to an empire with 72 million users, across 23 countries, the world’s third-biggest mobile operator in terms of subscribers. Over the same period, revenues leapt from $570m to a staggering $8 billion. Al-Barrak’s leadership and expertise in change management were elements of Zain’s success.

Before his appointment with Zain, he was the Managing Director of ITS, one of the leading IT companies in the MENA region.

Al-Barrak has held several non-executive posts at other firms, including vice-chairman of the Social Development Office of the Amiri Diwan in Kuwait; chairman of Egyptian Software Developer IT Soft; chairman of Arab Telecom; and non-executive director of the Arab Management Association in Cairo.

Al-Barrak has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in systems engineering from Ohio University in the US, as well as a doctorate in information systems and technology management from the UK’s University of London.
